Discovery of “Secret Tape” Leads to Voluntary Dismissal of Discrimination Case

Court: Superior Court of California, County of Sacramento

A large national copy service company was sued for sex and race discrimination and wrongful termination. The plaintiff had secretly tape recorded conversations with his manager in hopes of obtaining evidence helpful to his claims. After learning of the tapes, the making of which violated the California Penal Code, CDF negotiated a voluntary dismissal of the entire action for no consideration.
